Richard spent his first eight years after being admitted to practice as a lawyer at Moule Hamilton & Derham (now Freehills). From 1977 to 2003 Richard worked with Rogers and Gaylard, including 20 years as a partner. He joined Garland Hawthorn and Brahe in 2003 as a Consultant.
Specialising in liquor licensing law, Richard has comprehensive knowledge of the Liquor Control Reform Act, and significant experience in dealing with the relevant authorities. He has acted for the owners of bottle shops, hoteliers, restaurateurs and clubs in applications for new licences, transfers of licences, variations, extended hours permits and all related matters.
Richard also works in securities and general commercial law including leases and conveyancing.
He is a member of the Conveyancing Disputes Resolution Committee and the Liquor, Leisure and Hospitality subcommittee of the Victorian Law Institute.
